91快活林 State Researchers Publish in The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse

KENT, OH 鈥 Researchers from the Center for Public Policy & Health in 91快活林鈥檚 College of Public Health have published their work titled 鈥淐igarette and e-cigarette use as a function of psychological distress following COVID-19 related university campus closures鈥 in The American Journal of Drug and Alcohol Abuse.

The research focuses on identifying the relationships between psychological distress and nicotine consumption following the COVID-19 pandemic. An online survey collected data from students about their nicotine use and mental health the week before and following the campus closure due to the pandemic.

The findings of the study indicated that students experiencing higher levels of depression reported greater increases in e-cigarette use frequency over time compared to students who reported fewer symptoms of depression.

Deric Kenne, PhD, is an assistant professor in the College of Public Health and is the Interim Director of the Center for Public Policy and Health at 91快活林.
