91Ώμ»ξΑΦ State Salem Receives Rotary Donation
Salem β 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ at Salem recently received a check for $1,500 from the Salem Rotary Club, earmarked to help the campusβs Discovery Garden grow.
The Discovery Garden is an outdoor classroom where individuals can βlearn, grow, live and laugh.β Students in the horticulture program at 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ Salem use the garden space to put their lessons to work by planting and growing plants; designing and building landscape features; and harvesting the crops.
The food grown in the garden is donated to the Salem Food Pantry or used as part of the meal when 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ State Salem hosts the Banquet in Salem twice each year.
βThe donation from the Salem Rotary Club will help us expand the garden and enhance the learning opportunities for our students and the public,β noted Dr. Steve Nameth, dean of the 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ Salem campus. βWe appreciate the Rotaryβs support of the Discovery Garden, especially since it benefits so many in our community.β
